Toy Cars

Updated: Mar 2, 2020

Give us pause, don’t blink -

Bus stop, young man slumps,

With aching neck, winks

At neon screen. The hum

Of burning cars, hot

With fear and need. Go,

Take your chosen lot,

Fail tomorrow’s show.

Give us pause, don’t blink,

Bus stop, kid looks up,

To see Brother sink

Deeper. Tired enough

To sleep but plugged in -

No eyes see his small

Lost brother’s grin

As rattling plastic toy cars fall.
